‘Rosemary’ and ‘Cherry
Blossom’ Females
Both these females lines were developed at the
“Boobyalla” Stud, which was created
in 1978, when two of the Dikkenberg brothers,
Tony and Andrew, took females from the family’s
‘Sunrise’ Stud and went on to form
the biggest registered herd in Tasmania of that
time, with over one hundred and fifty stud females.
The subsequent ‘Rosemary’ and ‘Cherry
Blossom’ lines produced many champions
and interbreed champions, dominating the major
shows in the state.
‘Boobyalla Rosemary 682’ showed
her immense size and length by winning the interbreed
title at the Launceston Royal Show in 1991.
The first major interstate success was with
‘Boobyalla Discovery’, a silver
bull out of Rosemary 682 and by a ‘Maneroo
Washington’ bull, sold at the Murray Grey
National Congress in 1991, for $15,000. Following
this, Two more Boobyalla bulls in 1993 sold
for an average of $5,000. ‘Boobyalla Star
Trek’ out of ‘Rosemary 682’
and ‘Boobyalla Dr Spok’ out of ‘Rosemary
J56.’
The ‘Cherry Blossom’ line has also
produced many champions over the years. ‘Ultimate
Grey Dude’- by ‘Poonyahra Doohan’
out of ‘Cherry Blossom Q133’ was
awarded Junior and Grand National Champion in
2002, and ‘Ultimate Hot Chocolate’
out of Cherry Blossom T3 by ‘Monterey
Starlight’- Junior and Grand National
Champion in 2004.
Both these lines continue to produce top females
that are retained by the stud each year.
